Realtrac Server Update Buddy
With the Server Update Buddy, our customers can update their Realtrac Server PC to this newest Realtrac version when they are released. The Server Update Buddy will be installed on the Server PC to update the server with the latest release without interruption to the client pc operations. Once the server is updated, each client pc will receive notification that a new release is available for download.
Initial Installation
The Update Buddy must be installed on the PC that hosts the Realtrac Server. From the Server PC, download the UpdateBuddy.zip file via the link provided. Next, open the zip file and launch the setup.exe file and follow the Installation Wizard to complete the download.
When complete, you will see an icon on the desktop that looks like this:
To begin, double click the icon to launch the Realtrac Update Buddy. The Buddy will do a quick check and compare of the permissions and folders on your server pc. Next, you will enter the Pass Key, then 'Retest' button to initiate the current version check of your Realtrac Server.
Step 1
Once the current version and permissions are confirmed, the Update Buddy will ask you to press the 'Step 1' button to download the new update files.
Step 2
Next, 'Step 2' will compare the new files with current files to find the required files needed for your update. To begin, click the 'Step 2' button
Once the files are compared and identified, the next step is to shutdown Realtrac Clients and Services to allow the update. You will receive a warning/confirmation window to confirm the shutdown and installation. Click Yes to proceed.
Event Log and Technical Assistance
If the Update Buddy encounters an error at anytime during the update (version check, file download or comparing files), click the 'Create Events File' to document the update events. When complete, send a copy to tech@realtrac.com for assistance. Our technical team will research the error and call to provide a solution.

Update Client PC's
When the Realtrac Server update is complete, each client pc will receive notice that a new Realtrac version is available for download. Upon Realtrac login, a message will appear in the lower left corner of the application window and the main menu bar will flash yellow. Click the 'Toolbox' button, and select 'Check for updates'. Realtrac will then pull the new version from the Server PC and launch an Installation Wizard to complete the download.
